I just got a phone call from one of our district's elementary K-3 schools. They are running a book fair and have this title available for purchase. Also, I purchased this title for our K-3 schools' libraries last year. I am the high school librarian, but I supervise the K-3 schools. 3 very vocal parents are at the school now objecting to this book and demanding that it be pulled. I told the Principal not to try to defend the individual title, to approach it more that you don't have the right to deny another child the right to read this book. Well, I'm explaining (preaching) to the choir. My question is, since I am in a high school, what on earth are they objecting to? I have pulled the reviews and all are glowing and one is a starred review. I cannot find anything that anyone could object to, and since I don't have the book here, I can't read it. Has anyone else faced an objection to this title? This is the first time I've had a situation like this, although I've read about similar circumstances.
