Lyn -
I am writing to you and the list because I think this is an important issue
to discuss.

I am a librarian at a school of 600 first, second and third graders. I hold
two very successful book fairs during our two parent teacher conference
weeks in April and September.

I ALWAYS pull titles and items that I don't think appropriate. Mostly it is
books that have an older theme not suitable for my students. I have many
children who shop alone and I do not want any upset parents. Like wise I
pull the fancy pens and pencils, silly erasers, posters... anything that is
not something to READ. I am pushing READING not silly trinkets.

During our 2 hours family book fair I put all the junk out, when the parents
are available to say no.

I haven't seen the book I question but I would pull it in a heartbeat if I
thought I would have any repercussions from it. The Scholastic book fair
doesn't advertise that they sell every book published. Therefore if someone
wants a particular title that isn't available they can go to the local books
store or get in on line.

IMHO!!
