MAYBE it will help, but then again, maybe it won't...smile. Over the
years, I have found that teachers are worse than the kids about
returning books. But then again, I've also found that they're worse than
the kids at walking out with library materials that they haven't
bothered to check out...andf for those who have master keys, you just
never know what they'll help themselves to.=20
I once had a teacher return a book that hadn't even been processed yet.
He saw it on my processing truck, and decided it looked good, so he
helped himself after hours, when he let himself in with his master key.
At least he brought it back!

I've been finding it nearly impossible to get books back from teachers,
=3D
but
I think the problem is that I let them check materials out for the full
=3D
year
and by the time I ask for the books back at year's end they don't even
remember borrowing them. Next year, I'm going to set a two or three week
"due date" for teachers and send them reminder notes as often as I send
=3D
out
lists of students who owe books. Maybe that will help...maybe.

I always have a few students who don't get books back, but it is amazing
=3D
how
many books are suddenly found when the thought of a popscicle comes up!
=3D
I
reward each class that gets all their books 'taken care of' by a certain
date popscicles. By taken care I mean paid for if the book is not found.

Unfortunately this year my problem has been a teacher who still has 30+
books out. 'Oh, I'll find them' she said...but I have yet to see them =
=3D
and
school has been out for 2 weeks. I am tempted to go into her classroom =
=3D
and
see if I can find any of them! My principal is aware of who on the staff
still has books out; last year I know she did some reinforcing for me =
=3D
but if
she did this year it hasn't worked with this one! I know our district =
=3D
has a
policy about student responsibility; I need to check and see what there
=3D
is
about teacher responsibility.
