Interestingly enough - we went from a formal dress code --- shirt- tie-
dress shoes, etc. to a less formal code about 3 yrs ago. We now have Kearney
polo shirts, pants, shoes (which has led to boots and more); blouses, pants
or skirts for females. Our students look very messy according to many of us.

Last month 2 sophomores petitioned the school to put a formal uniform or
code in place. They wrote an excellent petition with suggestions (dress
pants, oxford shirt, official school tie, dress shoes; females would have
blouse, official school tie, dress shoes, pants or skirt). They also
included penalities. The issue is now before student council and it looks
like there is overwhelming approval of a more formal code.

I have noticed a decline in behavior (and perhaps success) in the dressed
down code we currently have. Many of the staff are excited about the student
petition. Time will tell.
