Based on what Chester wrote, I should clarify our lunch/library
procedures...It sounds similar. Students must report to the cafe if they are
eating or not. Those choosing to eat first and then come to the library or
just come to the library must check with the cafe hall monitor. This ensures
that we know where every student is every moment of the day. Let's face it,
many parents are paying our $6,000 tuition not for a Catholic education but
for a safe environment. 30% of our student base is not Roman Catholic
(neither am I), 51% are from the city --- safety is a primary concern here.
I also have several students assigned to the library for a research period
(we don't have study halls). This may be 1 or 2 students a few periods a
day - so I am responsible for their attendance.
