I'm afraid I have no answer for you, but this does bring up
a related question.
We're in the midst of a planning to upgrade a number of
computers in our school. Some of the vendors we've talked
with have told us that there is no need for a product like
Fortress or Foolproof once we've switched to WinXP, because
the policies and user settings will take care of all that.
Has everyone found this to be the case?
We don't want to purchase and install a product we don't
need -- but if we do need it, we don't want to neglect to
get it, either.
One important factor we need to consider is that we currently
have no tech support person in the building and our shared
tech support person is only here once a month. That means
that daily maintenance of policies or programs would have to
be done either by the classroom teachers or by the programming
teacher who has been acting as informal tech coordinator along
with those of us who have been helping her with tech support
(also informally). None of us are really experts at this sort
of thing, and some of us have little to no experience with
WindowsXP.
