We have an honor student who has recently been expelled. This student has basically completed the year and passed, but will miss his final 9 weeks tests and miss 18 days of school. Because of this, he is automatically required to repeat the grade. His parents are appealing this decision and requesting homebound assistance to complete the year. They feel that he will be bored and create problems if he has to repeat. This is the student's first offense and while it is a major one, we all hate to see him repeat. Do any of you know of any research that his parents could use with the board to show the detrimental effect of repeating in this situation?
