Was out a few days and enjoyed the thread that was put to rest by Peter. = It reminded me of a story I am always looking for an oppt'y to tell. = When I was teaching in the classroom I loved discussing The Giver. One = day we got into a dialog about explaining color to someone who has never = seen colors. I grew up with a friend who was blind from birth and always = found it a fascinating discussion. Anyway, I gave it as a writing = promt.....explaining color to someone who is blind. Two days later I = rec'd a nasty note from an understandably irate parent who wanted to = know what kind a horrible assignment that was....explaining color to = someone who is blond...... Can't beat this job for the laughs........ Eileen Culkin, Librarian Inter-Lakes Jr. Sr. High School Meredith, NH "I really didn't realize the librarians were, you know, such a dangerous = group. They are subversive. You think they're just sitting there at the = desk, all quiet and everything. They're like plotting the revolution, = man. I wouldn't mess with them."
