Target: What Is Your Library Computer "Entertainment" Policy?

Dear LM_NET Colleagues,

We want to create a acceptable use policy item with respect to
"entertainment' use of our computers during student free-time
(before-after school, lunchtime). We have 58 networked computers for
student use, so we need something that is fair and does not require a lot
of supervision.

Our goal is to assure that the computers will be available for students
needing to do research and class work. In the past we have allowed
unlimited viewing of streaming videos. But now, more than half of our
computers seem to be used for "entertainment' during free-times. Some of
the viewing is of a very dubious nature (e.g., stupidvideos.com, etc.),
and some is not, but we want to emphasize research and study over
entertainment.

If you have an item in your acceptable use policy that would address such
uses, please share it with me. Send to: pmilbury@iis.syr.edu (not to the
group, please.) I will post a Hit which summarizes the responses.
