OK, You have all been so helpful to me in my past requests, so I am asking once
again...

I am on our Library Re-Design Committee, and we are trying to raise funds to buy
some newer furniture, (desks, chairs, circ desk) computers and shelving, etc. while
trying to keep within the architecture/ambiance of the 100+ year old school. We
have a plan, and idea of costs ($60,000) and our idea is to do things in stages,
painting and some wall removal, then furniture, shelving, etc..

So I have to type a letter to our Alumni & Friends requesting donations. This is
completely new to me, coming from an academic library, and I have no idea even
where to start. I have a few sample letters from the PTSA asking for money for the
prom, but I am having trouble translating that to Library Funds. We have submitted
Grant proposals already, but we won't hear about that money for some time, as you
all know how Grants work. We want to start this summer with some of the basics,
wall removal and painting, and hopefully some new computers.

Does anyone out there have a sample letter or two that I might glean an idea from?

Thank you,
Rhonda
