You might want to contact Barbara Jansen at St. Andrews Episcopal School in Austin: bjansen@standrews.austin.tx.us I attended a workshop where she presented the Big 6 techniques and she had several examples of "trash-to-treasure" methods for research. Of course, the Big 6 website also has her methods listed: http://www.big6.com/showarticle.php?id=45 Just a thought. ~Shonda Brisco Trinity Valley MS / US Librarian Fort Worth, TX briscos@trinityvalleyschool.org -----Original Message----- From: School Library Media & Network Communications [mailto:LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU] On Behalf Of lnocita Sent: Tuesday, April 12, 2005 8:24 AM To: LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU Subject: [LM_NET] Gen: MIDDLE: Trash-n-treasure note taking At our state conference last weekend one of the presenters talked about using the trash-n-treasure method to teach note taking. I found some information about it on the Big 6 website, but I would like to see some actual examples of how to do it, which were not included on the website. A google search didn't turn any up any examples either. If you have used this with your middle or high school students, please email me to share your thoughts and experiences. I can't quite conceptualize how this works unless students are answering a very specific question. And, what if they can't mark on the text? Thanks in advance for any help!
