I found it interesting to read the hit about shelving beginning chapter
books separately. In our pk-5 library we have many of the series mentioned
(A-Z mysteries, Magic Tree House, Junie B. Jones, etc) and shelve them all
in the fiction section. The 2nd & 3rd graders quickly find them and direct
others to their location. It does teach them elements of how books are
shelved, location skills etc. This works for us.

I had interpreted "beginning chapter books" as a much lower level such as
Frog & Toad, Step into Reading, Minnie & Moo, Biscuit, Little Bear etc. I
have these in my "E" section and do periodically pull out a selection for
the Gr. 1-2 students. I also pull selections of the very beginning readers
for Gr. 1 and suggest that students take at least 1 book they can read
themselves (they can check out 3 at a time). I did like the idea of having
baskets for some of these, so I think I'll do a little shopping. I won't
pull them out of the "E" section on a permanent basis, but continue to just
highlight them for a few weeks here and there. The baskets will make it
easier to contain, display and handle during these times.

This is part of the wonder of LM_Net. We can all ask for opinions, read
what others are doing, and then interpret for our own unique
situation. Over and over we learn that there is no right or wrong answer,
just what is a good solution for your own particular set of circumstances.
