Thanks, David, for agreeing that the Mavica is a good "educational" camera.
In fact, that's what it's often referred to as since it's so rugged. And I'm
glad you suggested checking around for availability. A Google search for
"Sony Mavica Digital Camera" found several sites that carry them. We order
quite a few items from this site:

They carry the Mavica although the price is almost $300, so I was wrong in
my estimate of $200. Sorry, everyone! I recall that we bought ours from Best
Buy and we got some kind of a deal on them but according to their website
they don't even carry them anymore.

I agree with Reggie. These cameras seem to be pretty rugged, can be used 
with any computer with a floppy drive (some of the newer ones don't have 
them anymore!), and are big enough that those of us fumble-fingered 
people can actually operate them. Really little children might have 
troubles with them, but then they probably shouldn't be using a camera 
in the first place.

I didn't know that they were still available, though, so you may need to 
search a bit.
