[LM_NET] ELEM: Alternate titles

Hi,
   One of our 6th grade teachers has some students who are reading on a 3rd grade 
level, and she's looking for some complementary titles to use with them when she 
uses her usual classroom novels with the rest of the class. She plans to use 
"Taking Sides"  (a 14 year old aspiring basketball player must come to terms with 
his divided loyalties when he moves from the Hispanic inner city to a white 
suburban neighborhood), as well as a novel about the underground railroad ("North 
by Northeast?", and "The Giver."
    Can you suggest any novels/chapter books on a 3rd/4th grade level that might be 
related to any of these?    Thanks!        Judi
