Having enjoyed the discussion on the "new" librarian finding a title in the library that merited reconsideration, I thought I'd share a positive moment. Finally, after 15 years as a LMS, I did have a new-to-our-school parent walk in and demand to know how many books from the Banned Book Lists were in my library. When I inquired as to his purpose, he informed me that his children were not going to be deprived of any books because of some wacky censor somewhere else in the world. He wanted to make sure I had some controversy available and if not, he was going to go buy some. I did pinch myself when he wasn't looking to be sure I wasn't dreaming. During my LIS program at UIowa, Dr. Gerald Hodges did describe how censorship worked and that if all books that people objected to were removed from a library, someone would come in and object to the blandness of the collection. And there you go! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Diane R.
