It's listed on Amazon---not necessarily a "review source" but it might be something
to look at to get an idea of what it might contain. The magazine has been around
for a while (since 1993), so it has a following, it seems. Maybe it's the
"grunge-goth" meet Tony Hawk.....??? (the covers / website reminds me of Viva La
Bam--when the guys built the skating rink inside the parents' house.....MTV stuff).

Here's the website to DB:

There are a few photos on the website showing the magazine that might be
objectionable (depending upon your community standards, etc.):

I think this is probably a good magazine for personal use / entertainment (by the
students) AND I might purchase it (and monitor it) for my students if I were in a
specific environment (not where I am now), but this is one of those "collection
development / selection policy" decisions. Does it meet your selection criteria
and will it support your library's programs? I think for some kids, it might get
them in the library to look for more resources about inline skating.... but for
some parents, the "visuals" might draw concern.

Use your collection development policy and use the comments of others (librarians)
on the list who might know (or have it in their collection). Personally....my
teenage son would love it! Professionally, I'd hate to defend a good magazine for
in-line skating that draws attention through the use of scantily dressed,
well-endowed women on skates. (Just those "skate burns" when she falls would be
hard to justify!) <grin>

Good luck!

A student has requested that we add Daily Bread, an inline skating
magazine, to our collection, but we can't find reviews for the magazine.
It isn't listed in Bowker's Magazines for Libraries, and it isn't on any
core collection list I've seen--and I've checked several. Are any of you
familiar with it? If so, do you think it is worthy of purchase for a high
school library? Any evaluative thoughts you can provide will be much
appreciated.
