Was not sure how to post this. I was cleaning out my old emails and I had
saved the hit about bookmarks. At the time it was about, I must have been
too busy to contribute...
At my school, I ask often in our newsletter for old, used, greeting cards.
Volunteers rip off the page with the greeting and signature. Then they cut
up the beautiful card covers. Sometimes they use the Ellison machine,
sometimes they also cut them in strips.
Also, for me personally, I find dust jackets to be a pain and do not use
them. I have them cut up also, It is really cool when you give one away
and the kid remembers the book it is from.
After volunteers cut these, I keep them in a plastic shoe box so they don't
get dusty. When I have enough to do a weeks worth (7 classes a day-5 days a
week), then I give bookmarks to everyone that checks out.
They love it!
