Carrie, I checked with both ASCAP and BMI in the last month while writing a piece, 
and neither offers a venue license (they don't call it a blanket license) for K-12 
schools. They do for colleges, however. I asked how a school could "get legal" with 
music, and they said they didn't know. It was a totally untapped market for them.
 
If the music industry continues to tank, I would fully expect they will decide to 
tap that market.

Does your school already have a "blanket license" with ASCAP and BMI?
Maybe the school district handles this.  If so, you may be covered.  If
not, one would turn to fair use, and after a careful examination of the
four factors, make that determination.
