Carrie, I checked with both ASCAP and BMI in the last month while writing a piece, and neither offers a venue license (they don't call it a blanket license) for K-12 schools. They do for colleges, however. I asked how a school could "get legal" with music, and they said they didn't know. It was a totally untapped market for them. If the music industry continues to tank, I would fully expect they will decide to tap that market. Carol Simpson, Ed.D. Assoc. Maybe the school district handles this. If so, you may be covered. If not, one would turn to fair use, and after a careful examination of the four factors, make that determination. -------------------------------------------------------------------- All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
