Hit Part I Thank you everyone who contributed references on Lewis and Clark. The group that is creating a website for our district has not yet sifted through all materials, but we did visit many of the websites and found the first 4 to be the best overall sites. Many other sites have great sections on specific topics, but we are still compiling those and looking at the books, movies, etc. http://www.lewis-clark.org/ http://www.lewisandclark200.org/ www.pbs.org.lewisandclark www.sierraclub.org/lewisandclark/ The March, 2003 issue of SLJ (at SLJ.com) featured a Focus On piece (annotated bibliography) on Lewis & Clark. Lewis and Clark Expedition Websites These are the sites I found: http://www.lewis-clark.org/ http://www.lewisandclark.org/ http://www.nps.gov/lecl/ http://www.pbs.org/lewisandclark/ http://www.time.com/time/2002/lewis_clark/ http://www.lewisandclark200.org/ http://lewisandclarktrail.com/ http://www.lewisandclarkeducationcenter.com/ http://www.lcarchive.org/ Here's a page I put together for a project and a grant I had. http://www.quia.com/pages/crestonlewisandclark.html Some of the sites on the list have an Indiana bent-sometimes we think we were overlooked because they stress the official beginning of the trip as Missouri, but it was in Indiana/Kentucky that Lewis and Clark met up, and Clark was from Indiana. For books, I would definitely recommend Captain's Dog by Roland Smith. Kids love it! New Found Land: Lewis and Clark's Voyage of Discovery (Candlewick Press,2004) by Allan Wolf. It was an SLJ Best Book of 2004. http://www.allanwolf.com/ Go West Across America with Lewis & Clark http://www.nationalgeographic.com/west/main.html It is just right for the 3rd grade classroom. http://www.lewisandclarkeducationcenter.com/ http://www.selah.k12.wa.us/LINKS/Explorers.html www.nps.gov/lecl/sites.htm links to addresses of many places related to Lewis and Clark.
