My favorite ELL teacher is looking for novels to use with her classes. She wants
books that are not "dumbed down," that have a message or can be used for higher
level thinking skills; that are written at the 2nd and 4th grade reading levels,
respectively; that are of interest to high school students. She is currently using
Mississippi Bridge and Sarah Plain and Tall, but she has her students on a two year
cycle and so needs two more titles. I have been gone from MS, never mind Elem, for
too long to be able to recommend many titles. Suggestions would be appreciated.
