I need help solving a problem that has me baffled. I do not use the Internet to
catalog with because I work in a prison. I use the Alliance CD from Folletts and
the old fashion way. The problem is that between May 1 2005 and June 30 2005 I
cataloged 150 books to put on the shelf. Everything was fine, not of the books
were on the shelf because the inmates that put the spine labels on were doing other
things, but some of the books were on the shelf and had been checked out. Then out
of the blue two weeks ago these books [all in this group] are no longer in the
database. I turned the computer date back and ran reports to prove that I had done
them, and they were in the system on the dates I did the work. Now I must re-enter
all of these books {38 books were still there} I have grilled the inmates till they
were ready to admit to the Lindbergh kidnapping and one confessed to checking 23
books out to a student he did not like and he has been dealt with. Everyone else
is pu!
 zzled. I
know I did the work, paper trail proves it. Access to the cataloging in Folletts
is pass-worded and the inmates have never seen me log on because I do it in my
office where they do not go. I realize these guys are smart and have nothing but
time....but I am puzzled as to what happen. In 6 years I have never had this
problem. Did one fiddle around long enough to figure something out and have a
field day, why not delete other books, why just this last 2 month? is there a
software glitch I am unaware of???? Any ideas.....I am open to any way out thinking
because I can never let this happen again.........

Thanks in advance...........
