Book Review-Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon Attention all librarians, run, do not walk, and pick up a copy of this book! What an absolutely exquisite read! Initially, I was turned off by its description as a "gothic" novel—I am not into that genre, but other descriptions and recommendations of LM_Netters made me curious, so I decided to give it a try. Once into the book, I put all my other summer chores aside and read it cover to cover in two days, only sleep and dinner in between. This book shimmers with intrigue, a novel within a novel—such twists and turns, absolute love, and absolute evil. I can't even begin to discuss the plot, but it begins with a young boy's discovery of a book—and his discovery that someone is trying to destroy every copy of every book that the author has written. Thus begins a journey of murder, intrigue, and love. I apologize in advance that I consign gothic novels to the female gender, but in my utmost sincerity, I think I have been remiss. This is one helluva good read! Enjoy!
