Hello! I've been searching your wonderful archives, which have been helpful, but I have a slightly unusual situation and I'm hoping to draw on your expertise. I'm volunteering to help a small, start-up private high school drag their library into the 21st century. They would like an online catalog that students could search to see what materials they have, but they don't want automated check-out. The main reason is that they want to keep different subject collections in the classrooms where the subjects are taught. Automated check-out would require students to take books from the classroom and walk them to the library room to check-out, which seems like asking for trouble. I don't think they could afford to have a computer in every classroom, either. Does anyone know of a library using a simple program or a home library cataloging program to create a catalog? Are we crazy not to automate all the way? Thanks, Jennifer Webb Library Technician and soon to be MLS Cary Memorial Library Lexington, MA 02420 jwebb@minlib.net -------------------------------------------------------------------- All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
