After 5 years out of library land while raising kids, I'm returning to work in a new, yet unopened elem. school library (population 250, K-5 but will grow to include 6-8). My first rather daunting task is to get it all set up. There aren't even shelves yet. My questions are: If you could start from scratch, what library automation system would you choose, what vendor(s) do you prefer for purchasing library books, and for anyone with experience in opening a new library, what advice do you have? Our school is a dual language immersion program (Spanish/English) so any specialized advice relevant to that would be appreciated as well. Thanks!
