In answer to the questions aboout Blogs - look below:

1. Why did you start a journal? Professional
development? To act as a portfolio for a job search?
Other reasons?

*** I started the blog to share my experiences as an
educator/librarian living in the U.S. Virgin Islands
and to talk about the YA books I have been reading.
My students at UHCL check my blog for what I recommend
even after they are no longer in my classes. Some say
they use it for collection development and for their
own leisure reading. Friends read it more to hear
about living the USVI, but many have said they choose
books to read for it as well.

> 2. Is your journal paper, electronic (i.e. a Word
Document), or =
online?

*** Online.

> 3. If your journal is online, what are you using?
How did you select the one you are using? What are the
benefits of your journal being online?

* I am using BlogSpot and have the Blogger URL
bookmarked so I go directly to the screen to input the
entry. I like the spellchecker that goes with it. I
also like that I can access it from anywhere I have an
Internet connection. And, anyone who wants to read it
can access it easily as well.

>4. Please share your weblog if you're willing

It called MadChatterYA and is accessible at
http://madchatterya.blogspot.com.

I try to write in it daily but I don't always meet
that goal, but it is a way for me to feel connected to
other YA literature professionals even though I live
on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands and teach YA
literature online for the U of Houston-Clear Lake.
