We can also find fault with all studies. When comparing test scores, there are many factors that may have been left out. We recently had to deal with parents who were upset because our test scores were not as high as the public school's. When there was further research into the scores, it was discovered that the local public system weeded out all the scores of students with learning disabilities. Our scores included all students. We could probably go around and around about the private vs. public school argument. What bothers me about the "discussion" is that it ignores that not every school is right for every student. My oldest son spent a few years in an eastern Catholic school. He thrived best in the public school system in our small southern city (not the same one cited above). My youngest son has opted to attend a Catholic boarding school for high school (no new car for mom for several years). Different people. Different needs. I would prefer to see schools work in collaboration with each other instead of competition. Are we protecting our turf, or working for students? Bene e Pace (Blessings and Peace), Paula S.W.
