Not being automated, I just check them off and put the magazines on the
rack.....don't keep back issues. I figure the students take the
magazines and pass them around--we are a boarding school so they usually
end up there for students to read.

I barcode several manila envelopes.....I make blank holding records --
magazine - and the barcode. Do I know which magazines the student has?
No. I
really don't care. I just know s/he has a magazine. I do not keep any
back
issues of magazines - I give them to a local hospital down the street.
I am
not going to replace the missing issue so don't really care what issue
is
missing. Works beautifully.

My students don't really read magazines - don't check them out,
however. So
in five years I have only circulated 7 magazines.

Subject: [LM_NET] TAR: How do you check out magazines?

I am wondering about the different ways LMS check out magazines. Some
catalog them all and check out like a book, others use the primitive
method
of signing out a magazine on a sheet of paper, some use the card method
just
for magazines...I would like to know what any of you do and why. For
example, if you catalog them, why do you feel this is best. If you use
a dif
ferent method, please describe it and why you like it. I am trying to
find
the best method for me. Thanks all.
