Folks, if there were a nonprofit-organization exemption from observing
copyright, then, copyright would be a dead letter. EVERY copyrighted work
could under such an imaginary loophole be reproduced in its entirety (or in
pieces) by nonprofit organizations. (And bear in mind that nonprofit only
means that the organization is not paying out proceeds to
shareholders. Many nonprofits are enormously profitable.) The imaginary
loophole is absurd on the face of it. And it IS imaginary. There is no
such exemption, as has been pointed out on this list time and again.

You might want to run the logic by lawyers who are confused on the point.

(Oh, by the way, plenty of nonprofit organizations produce their own
copyrighted works and fiercly protect their copyrights against infringement
by any and all, whether for-profit or nonprofit.)

Regards,

Ken
