While I have only had to sub a couple of times, my assistant is called
out quite a bit. She really hates it because subs make more money than
she does! It is usually a last minute thing and due to some one
forgetting to call a sub. We don't mind it as much if it is a true
emergency but many times it is not. As far as what to do, I really
can't tell you, but we have been known to suddenly remember meetings
etc. so that she is unable to leave.
