In the past, there was no sub hired to replace me; however, I lobbied
strongly to have one. It was very justifiable given the fact that I am also
in charge of an adjoining computer lab which is heavily used. If I am not
there and there is no person in charge, the library and lab are vulnerable
to unsupervised students. When I suggested that there is a great deal of
money invested in hardware, books, AV materials, etc., that should not be
unsupervised, I was able to have a sub. I leave detailed notes and I have
very useful and knowledgeable student aides. Because I am in a high school,
I don't have regularly scheduled classes, so a sub is mainly there to keep
an eye on things.
