One of my art teachers is working on the idea of creativity and how it is fostered and/or extinguished. She remembers a story from several years ago about a little girl who goes to school and is asked to draw an apple. She draws an apple and colors it red. Her teacher then explains that there are all kinds of colors that apples can be and the little girl goes on to create pictures of apples in various colors, etc. The little girl then moves and at her new school is asked to draw a picture of an apple. She does so incorporating the various colors and her new teacher comes over and tells her that no, that is wrong, doesn't she know that apples are red? Does anyone know the title and author of this story and/or where I might be able to locate a copy of it? Thanks for your help.
