I had a 5th grade teacher ask for books today with "exceptional language." I hit the archives for symbolism and great first lines, and I was able to give her a stack of books. She was thrilled with that but wants more. This is the standard she's working on: Describe the function and effect of common literary devices, such as imagery, metaphor, and symbolism. Symbolism: the use of an object to represent something else; for example, a dove might symbolize peace. Imagery: the use of language to create vivid pictures in the reader’s mind. Metaphor: an implied comparison in which a word or phrase is used in place of another, such as He was drowning in money. If you have any other ideas of books with exception language throughout the book, please respond to me directly. Thank you.
