Hello everyone! My name is Julie Profita and I have been "lurking" and learning for sometime now. I am finishing coursework for my library degree and have also started work this Fall as an Itinerant librarian within my school system. I am "split" between two K-5 elementary schools. I have a question about what happens to book check out when the resource team (library, art, music,PE,computer) are scheduled for lunch? One school is on a fixed schedule and the library is closed to patrons during that time (30 minutes). The other school is on a Flex schedule in the morning for grades 3-5 (with a scheduled book check out time around noon) and then a fixed schedule in the afternoon for K-2. Lunch is often eaten on the go for the LMS at this school because teachers really use the Flex schedule (YEAH!). I would like to know what other K-5 schools do in regards to lunch. I aspire to apply in the Spring for a Head library position and would like to know what options are currently being used. Please note whether your school is on a Fixed or Flexible schedule as I think this may influence lunch practices. I will post a HIT once responses are received. Thank you in advance for your time.
