Shonda Brisco <sbrisco@FWCDS.ORG> writes: >.just keep learning and always be open to new things!~ Shonda -- I love reading your e-mails- I learn a lot and wonder how you have so much energy! Of course, I agree with the above quote from your last posting -- I think the current "vent|" is about teachers who seem to think we need to jump through hoops to solve their problems -- i.e., not making sure the equipment is working before class, etc. -- and then expecting us to drop everything immediately, even if we're in the middle of a class or whatever, to "serve" them. Service is great, but we are just one person. I am blessed to have a wonderful library tech who manages most of these problems for me. So now I need to share my AV story -- years ago I was librarian at a private school here in Austin, and we got a student teacher (male) who thought he was "hot stuff". One day he flung open the door to my library -- actually snapped his fingers! and said "MY VCR isn't working -- come fix it!" and strode out. Trying to keep my Christian attitude -- it was a Catholic high school after all -- I went up to his room and started checking cables and connections. God is good -- I was so gratified to find everything plugged in EXCEPT the electric outlet on the cart. I held up the cord, and sweetly said, "Sir, this is a power source. This is how you plug it in (demonstrating) -- please let me know if there are further problems" and saundered out, greeting students pleasantly on my way. Curiously, his manners improved immediately thereafter! :) Betty Copeland, MLIS Librarian Dahlstrom Middle School Buda, Texas 78610 512-268-8441, ext. 6537 Fax 512-295-5346 copelandb@hayscisd.net -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
