I missed the original target for citing images found by way of Google
Images, but I've been working on this this week. We use MLA in our school,
and I provide a "gyp sheet" so the kids aren't always having to consult
the200+ page book that all the 9-12s must have. This is my entry according
to MLA 6th ed.:
If you are using Google images:
Click on the picture and the go to the website where it came from
(It's listed at the top of the page)
Look for the following information about the picture:
a.. Photographer's or artist's name (often not given)
b.. Name of subject or title of picture
c.. Date of picture (often not given)
d.. Title of website
e.. URL
f.. Date you accessed the picture
Complete example for a painting of President Eisenhower:
Hufford, Nicodemus. Dwight David Eisenhower. 1973. United States Army.
http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/books/cg&csa/Eisenhower-DD.htm. 25 October 2005
In this example, the title of the website was not obvious. You make have to
back up to the first part of the URL (up to .edu, .gov, etc) to discover the
title of the whole site.
