[LM_NET] Do you know this book?

Hello all! I was wondering if any of you wise folks could help me figure out the 
title of this book for a teacher. A teacher is trying to collect copies of books 
from her childhood for her daughter who is expecting her first child. She remembers 
a book from about thirty+ years ago but has forgotten the title. Here are the clues 
she gave me:
   
  It was about a squirrel who played all day while the other squirrels gathered 
nuts.
   
  When winter came he had nothing to eat and had to beg for nuts from the other 
squirrels, but they wouldn't help him.
   
  The cover was a golden color with a large illustration of a squirrel with a bushy 
tale.
   
  Please reply off list if you think you can identify this book.
