Peter,
I don't know if you want to let this through or not. It's a tongue response to
a serious issue. Delete it if you think it's inappropriate. Thanks.

I agree with Shonda that this is a serious issue that needs to be discussed on this
forum.
But first, how about a lighter look at it. Maybe we should all have our patrons
sign this "Hold-Harmless agreement" that I've put together....

Hold-Harmless agreement

Each patron requesting assistance from a media staff person must sign this
document and have it notarized before asking for advice.

I hereby indemnify and hold harmless any employee or volunteer worker of
the ____________Media Center for any information, advice, or suggestions they may
make to me regarding books to read, research to be done, or any other topic of
conversation into which we may enter.
Regardless of any harm; physical, emotional or mental, or damage; real or
imagined to my self-esteem, I agree not to file suit, bad-mouth, or disrespect,
said employee. In addition, I agree not to discuss my experience in my blog, or in
any other medium now in existence or imagined in the future.

Signed and sealed in blood this_________ day of __________, 200_
