A "Works Cited" list is a list of references that you actually cite within the text of the paper. A "Bibliography" is a list of books, no electronic sources. A "List of Sources" is a list of references that students referred to when researching their topic. These 3 are all different, but for the purpose of creating a title for the list at the end of student papers, we have our students use "Works Cited." Colleges and universities, especially at the masters level, may ask students to hand in both a "Works Cited" list as well as a "List of Sources" so high school students should be familiar with all 3.
