I have found the exact same reaction from my colleagues and friends since I left the classroom to become the high school librarian four years ago. I explain as politley as I can that the library is the hub of the school, that I have not given up teaching, that being a librarian to me is a purer form of teaching, etc. I am constantly amazed, as you are, that well educated, seemingly intelligent people continue to make these remarks. Let's face it, librarians are a misunderstood lot. We must continue to enlighten the masses. It is my secret belief that I have the best job in the school, and the teachers who make those remarks are all jealous that they were not smart enough to consider a degree in library science.Denise Moore Media Specialist Ellenville High School Ellenville, NY 12428 845-647-0123 x284 www.ecs.k12.ny.us ****************************************************** This email is property of the Ellenville Central School District, use for any other purposes is strictly forbidden. ****************************************************** -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
