Dear Friends,

Please, I can't stress this enough to you and fellow teachers; "Don't put
anything on email to anyone that you wouldn't want on the front page of the
newspaper". I am in the middle of a situation where parents are asking for
records of emails between teachers. They can request this through the open
records act. The parents are trying to prove that the teachers have taken
fundraiser money for their own use, not allowed certain students to
participate in various activities due to their social status, etc. The sad
thing is that the parents can view these emails after certain information
has been erased. The same with your personnel file. Since you are a
"public official" the public has the right to view your file, again with
certain materials blackened out. But to accomodate these requests, it is
taken hours to go through the materials in order to protect the privacy of
those in questioned. And we wonder what is wrong with education!!!!

Remember to have for "educational purposes only" on the copy machine and
computer and remind these people often. Times have changed and we all "do"
things that are not of the educational nature. It only takes one person to
make your life an inferno, so please beware! Keep your derogatory remarks
to yourself or express them to your cat...they will never forsake you!
