This is wa-a-a-a-y off topic, but I had a kindergardner bring two oblong shaped
rocks (about 4 in. long, 3 in. diameter) to the library wondering what they were.
They looked like rocks, but had small gravel embedded in them, the end of one
seemed to be broken away... like the husk of black walnuts. I almost think I could
have made an imprint with my thumbnail... not really hard like a rock. The kicker
is, they rattled!!
His mother has since told me they found bunches of them on a trip to Sicily
Island, Louisiana. They were in real soft sandstone, the family dug out a bunch of
them. Are they some kind of nut? fossils? scat? would anyone out there be able to
help me?? I took pictures, but am unable to post attachments.
