Our district is migrating to RenPlace this year. My school is already converted. We are using our own, existing quizzes and STAR, STAREL and that includes all of our teacher made quizzes. This is a district wide database of students and reported data but the quizzes are separated. We are paying for licenses per student and initial setup fees. We are NOT paying the per student fee to have access to all available quizzes. Our benefits are that we get rid of inidividual servers at each school that require maintenence and back up. We won't pay support agreement fees per school. We have more stable data that is backed up in a triple redudant system off-site. We also will have district wide reporting capabilities, and administration likes that. I am really glad we have made this move. It is going to be better in the long run, just like the libraries migrating to Destiny from Follett. I don't have 100,000 titles for which I need AR tests nor do I spend the above amounts on tests each year. Also last year when I was checking into AR Renaissance Place, we weren't going to get any credit for the thousands of tests we already own, so basically we would pay $4 per kid to take tests which we already own. I could go on but I will step off my soap box.
