We have over 100 magazines in our library (most for pleasurable reading) and I have a comfy section set up by the magazines. Students come in all day long just to read magazines. Research has shown that boys often prefer nonfiction (sports and other magazines) more than fiction. Reading is reading - in my book - no pun intended! -----Original Message----- From: School Library Media & Network Communications [mailto:LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU] On Behalf Of Kristin Flater Sent: Tuesday, October 03, 2006 1:47 PM To: LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU Subject: Magazines While I appreciate the debate on the merit of magazines, it makes me cringe a little. If we stop offering pleasurable reading for students, they will stop finding reading pleasurable. Never underestimate the power of reading for fun!
