The students who do not have access to the internet from home usually know that. At school they will be in doing the research, collecting and printing the materials to take home with them. What does it matter then if it is a printout of the article(s) from a database they need or a copy of the magazine article. In my 20+ years in the secondary library world if a class or groups of classes are in for a research project the materials are not allowed to leave the library; access for all. There is no way we can provide equal access to the information if first period checked it all out; because I sure don't have enough for 150 students to each have their own original copy. The students will have to make a copy to take home, or work in the library. Either way, we are back to accessing information and making a print copy. It is not a violation of copyright for the students to print copies of the information they need. Jean R.
