[LM_NET] GEN: English curriculum designers

One of my teaching colleagues is taking a graduate course on curriculum design. He 
needs to write a paper about a leader who has influenced the design of curricula 
for English classes. From your previous professional or academic experiences, are 
there any names that come to mind?
