I know exactly what Shonda means. I have a very old ALA Master's
(1981) so I am not sure that a major public library system would want
me for a professional job at this point, but I would still like to
work in that field part-time when I retire. However, my years of
experience in working with the public as part of the public school
system would be useful.

I went in the other direction and got a second master's degree in
education (2002), which has helped me a lot as a teacher-librarian
and I sure wish that I had done it sooner, although doing it when I
did helped my technology skills considerably. (My undergrad degree
was in Education/ LS but I am not a certified elementary teacher.)

But you just never know what learning experience will help you, so it
is important to stay current as much as possible.

LM_Net certainly has helped to expand my horizons. I am always
recommending it to my colleagues!
