If you're thinking of heading off to the Public library sphere, an MLS may not be needed. NJ has a "Professional Librarian Certificate", which is required by many public libraries for professional level jobs. The requirements are for ***either*** an MLS from an ALA accredited program, or a Masters level degree in Library science from an approved program at a state college (aka the former teachers colleges). There is another route for people who have library degrees earned outside the US or Canada. So, see if your state offers a similar certification, and get it. Then you have that to offer, even out of state. Dan Robinson HW Wilson Company Bronx, NY drobinson@hwwilson.com (w) infomaven@patmedia.net (h) On 9 Aug 2007 at 10:49, D. J.
