LM_NET Archive



The librarian made decisions as to call number, subject, how the title would
appear and noted the information such as cost, jobber, purchase date, etc.
The book was then ready for the individual (library secretary when I first
started) that would type the set of catalog cards needed for each individual
book.

I don't miss those days at all.

I still write the date & cost as well as the barcode number on the page
behind the title page. I've found it comes in handy from time to time and if
nothing else reminds me I have already entered this book in my system and
just need to print the labels for it.
