[LM_NET] collection development help

I have been working on collection development all summer for the library
at our local new charter school.
It has been very overwhelming.  We are going to give a blanket po to
Follett and place an initial order.  
I was not impressed with what was on their suggested lists, and have
received no help from our sales rep.  I am pretty nervous about getting
started with the right materials.  
How has your experience with Follett been?
Any general advice for me with getting started?
