I have a somewhat related request for ideas. I am gathering "artifacts" and realia
to display on the bookshelves within the nonfiction section in my new library next
year (something I wanted to do in the past, but never got around to it). For
example, I have a large conch shell for 594, measuring spoons and a measuring cup
for 641, a baseball glove for the 796 area, a small globe for in the 900s. I am
still trying to come up with items for other parts/topics of the nonfiction
collection. Any great ideas to share? I would love suggestions and I will post a
hit.
  Thank you,

Subject: TARGET: shelf displays

I always start off the year gung ho and creative with shelf displays
of books. Then, by the end of the year, I'm grabbing whatever books
are most convenient off the shelves and finding books that are still
up for weeks. My goal is to do better next year by planning "themes"
of shelf displays for each week or so.
I've done the obvious, of course: holidays, seasons, current sports,
etc. I'd like some suggestions of more creative themes. One of my
favorites is books that have been turned into movies or TV shows. If
you have creative ideas for book displays, please send them to me and
I'll post a hit.
Thanks in advance,
